On October 28, 2000 Karla Stanley,- President, Teresa Palmer-Visser-Vice President, Jodi Cuskelly-Secretary, and John Visser-Treasurer petitioned the Pinto Horse Association of America to grand North Dakota Pinto Horse Association a charter for the purpose of promoting the Pinto Equine. Prior to this time, there were some Pinto shows held in North Dakota, but we did not have our own charter. We were under the larger Dakota Region under the guidance of Sector Director, Judy Schroeder. Mrs. Schroeder worked closely with the new board to make sure we were successful in our petition.
The North Dakota Pinto Horse Association held one judge shows in the early years and were very frugal. Sally Henry helped out a lot with donations and seeking sponsorships. In 2005, we held the Dakota Colors Area Championship Show in Brooking, SD in conjunction with the SD charter. This was very successful and allowed our charter enough security that we were able to increase the judges at subsequent shows.
The rest is as they say history…we continue to grow slowly and host multi-judge shows. As a charter, we have had much success at a National and “World” level bringing home our fair share awards including high points at the World Show in 2010, 2011 and 2013. We are proud to be a charter of the Pinto Horse Association of America.

We host a 2 day, tripled judges PtHA show along with All Breed Horse classes typically held in later summer at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, ND. We also hold our annual award banquet in the later fall following the show.
Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions by the West Fargo Fairgrounds, it is no longer feasible for our show to take place on July 25th and 26th, 2020. The health and safety of our exhibitors is our first priority and as such our board has decided that we cannot move forward with the ND Pinto Show July 25-26th, 2020 as planned, so will be cancelling the show for 2020.
We fully plan on having our show next summer (2021), stay tuned for dates and more information on our Facebook page and website.
